The Beam Oceana 800 is a complete slimline satellite terminal that allows connection to the Inmarsat network for maritime applications. The Oceana 800 terminal is supplied with the ISD710 Maritime Antenna (Active) to provide a complete integrated solution that is ready for use anytime.
The Oceana 800 has been purposely designed for maritime communications, as an all-in-one IP54 rated terminal. This makes it perfect for rough condition onboard any marine vessel to have the reliable service that you would expect from a maritime communication terminal. The terminal has the ability to mount a privacy handset in a spring cup to make sure that under the roughest of conations that the handset will not be removed accidently and allow the lines of communication to stay open at all times.
The Oceana 800 is designed to operate with the Inmarsat ?FleetPhone? service to provide reliable voice and data communication services for those working or sailing outside of cellular coverage. The ?FleetPhone? service provides low cost voice services allowing phone calls to be charged to the vessel or a prepay card account, Data transmits simple text emails with small attachments, and SMS messages can be sent and received. The 505 Emergency Calling facility puts vessels directly in contact with a maritime rescue co-ordination centre (MRCC) free of charge.
Featuring an intelligent RJ11/POTS interface, it enables connection of up to 5 standard corded/cordless phones or integration to a PABX system. It can support cable runs of up to 600m (2000ft) and incorporates in-built intelligence to support standard ring, busy and dial tones.
The Oceana 800 has an integrated GPS engine providing intelligent tracking and instant message reporting via SMS. The Tracking and Instant Message functionality can be configured to support automated periodic polling or instant message reporting with a single button press. Oceana 800 has an integrated Bluetooth for voice communications, intuitive color LCD display that provides easy and convenient access to send and receive SMS or to retrieve phone numbers stored in the terminal. Also included is a secondary SIM socket to override internal SIM, in-built handsfree speakerphone, USB data, desk or wall mountable.

Phone worked well. No issues contacting 3,000 miles away. Must have the phone outside for a clear view of the sky. For a permanent use on a boat I would recommend an outside antenna. I was able to manage weather situations for a 40 boat CUBAR trip to Mexico without any issues.

Voice quality was very good, but you do have to allow for the conversational delay due to the distance to the satellite. Text, email and weather reports work quite nicely.

We were extremely pleased with the performance of the BEAM Oceana 800 phone - particularly the voice quality of the service, We've been using it to call in for weather reports and to keep in touch with fish processors, as well as family and friends. Everyone we spoke to on the phone commented on its clarity saying they could hear us so well.
